Contemporary

Clean lines and simple contours are the backbone of contemporary design styling.

Furniture is usually kept to a minimum but is also usually very functional.

Glass, metal and stone accessories provide the smooth texture in the space while large pieces of artwork embellish the walls.

Bold colors that accentuate neutral color furnishings are common but sometimes rooms of all white are also seen. Many times the color scheme is monochromatic. Black is also often used as a neutralizer.

Designers, architects and artists are sometimes partial to this decorating style because of the simple geometry, lines and cleanliness rendered in the finished space.

Although this style tends to be sleek and sophisticated, it can also be stark and cold feeling compared to other styles.
